- Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI) is a government agency under the Ministry of Agriculture. This organization started in 1961 under the name 'Soil Survey Project of Pakistan'. After the development of independent Bangladesh, in 1972 under the Ministry of Agriculture, the institution came to be known as 'Soil Survey Department' and later in 1983, after reorganizing and expanding the 'Soil Survey Department', the activities of the institution are being conducted under the name of Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI).2020 Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI) Narsingdi Regional Office started operations in 2020. The districts under this office are Narsingdi and Gazipur
Vision and Mission
- Vision: Ensuring rational and profitable use of land and soil resources and protection of soil environment. Mission: (1) Preparation of inventory of soil and land resources. (2) Capacity-based classification of land and soil resources. (3) User-friendly guidelines for ensuring optimal use of land and soil resources; Preparation of brochures and guides. (4) Management of problematic soils. (5) Assistance in formulation and implementation of sustainable plans for increasing crop production.
